Ealing Croquet Club entertained eight members of the Sports and Leisure team from Ealing Council on the evening of Tuesday 12th June on the club’s lawns in Lammas Park.
After a brief warm-up each visitor was paired off with a croquet member for a game of Golf Croquet doubles. As so often happens, the newcomers to the game picked things up very quickly, and their competitive streaks soon became apparent. There were some close-fought encounters: our photo shows Ealing Council Assistant Director of Leisure Chris Bunting picking up his ball shortly after scoring the winning hoop in his match against Richard and Michael. Chris had earlier played what must have been the shot of the evening, running hoop 4-Back from 22 yards away without touching the sides, to level the scores.
The players retired to the pavilion afterwards for a well-earned glass (or several) of wine, as the sun broke through to make for a delightful summer evening.
All in all a thoroughly convivial occasion, which we hope to repeat soon.
