We experienced diametrically opposing outcomes in our final two South East Federation B League matches of the season – with equally contrasting meteoroligical conditions.
As autumn creeps up on us, our photo is a reminder of the scorching conditions and glassy lawns of July, that are already beginning to fade in the memory. It all proved too much for Ealing, who succumbed 3 – 0.
In stark contrast, the day of our match against Dulwich in late August started with torrential rain. However, by 10am the skies had miraculously cleared, and Ealing secured a 3 – 0 win on our excellently draining lawns.
That concluded our B League campaign, which saw mixed results, but as intended gave valuable AC match experience to some of our newer players.
Our thanks to the South East Federation for their usual exemplary organisation of the Leagues this year. We have asked them to consider the possibility of introducing full-bisque play for the B League next year. It has always seemed a cruel and unusual punishment to expect two 20-handicappers to play each other with no bisques…
