Although Tony and David both had decent breaks, so did the Guildford partner player, so we never overhauled them and lost on time. Meanwhile, Roger used his bisques effectively to claim a convincing win, but Colin found it difficult to get going against his opponent’s bisques.
In the afternoon, Tony had a fairly quick victory against his opponent, who (happily for us) couldn’t show again the imperious form he’d shown in the morning, and only made one hoop. David also won well against his opposite number. Roger’s game was more drawn out, but ended as a solid victory on time. Colin made a remarkable recovery from nearly 20 points behind; two excellent breaks during the last hour or so of play transformed the score into a 23-21 victory on time. Overall, a 5-2 win. So we finish the League season with 3 wins and 1 defeat – and crossing our fingers that Surbiton may lose to Reigate Priory in their final match !
